In Japan, a daruma represents resilience and good luck. They are also used to make a wish and set goals. When you make a wish, you colour in one eye. Then, if the wish comes true, you can colour in the other eye too.
In this story, Daruma decides that it is his turn to make a wish. His friend, the calligraphy pen, has a little trouble making this happen though.
