Two stars are separated on different sides of the Milky Way and they may only meet each other once a year on the day of Tanabata. But what happens when the Milky Way is flooded and they can't cross over?

This book, adapted from the traditional folktale of Tanabata, introduces the story and cultural practices of Tanabata in both English and Japanese language.

Written in English and a section of key Japanese vocabulary, students will be able to read this story, including the key words, within the context of a traditional story. They will additionally see that Japanese script includes both hiragana and kanji and develop an understanding of how they relate to each other through furigana.
